Eiliko Robot Report Raises Privacy and Security Concerns

A newly published Verge report questions how Energize Lab’s Eiliko robot handles conversations and the security of data stored on servers in China.

Eiliko robot faces scrutiny over stored conversations

The Verge's October 15 report says Energize Lab's Eiliko robot can store conversations on servers in China when used over Wi-Fi. Linus Tech Tips Revives a PC Build After Seven Years

LTT returns to a long-delayed custom PC project, offering a reminder that retro computing is about the experience—and that old software brings modern trade-offs.

Watch on YouTube: Finishing What we Started Seven Years Ago ↗

Linus Tech Tips has returned to a custom PC project that stalled seven years ago. In its October 8 release, the channel says missing parts and changes around the original project had stopped the build. Its official announcement now credits Alex and Andy from Zip Tie Tuning and Zip Tie Tech with helping bring it back, along with custom CPU and GPU cooling blocks from EKWB.

The appeal is easy to understand: sometimes the computer you want to build is the one you never finished, rather than the fastest machine available today. LTT’s published chapter list moves through the cooling system, pressure testing, Windows XP and gaming. That makes this a useful starting point for thinking about retro projects, rather than a reason to expect modern performance from old hardware. This article draws on the channel’s published information and supporting documentation, not our own test of its machine.

NASA's October 15 report describes researcher Shane Coffield analyzing VIIRS satellite observations for fires below the inclusion threshold of official FIRMS products. He says the analysis identified about 40 percent more fires around Santarém than FIRMS active fire counts show. Smoke, clouds and tree cover can obscure detection. Coffield plans to share candidate fire locations with the MapBiomas research network.

A reported interview trial would ask some McKinsey applicants to handle a simulated client conversation, with humans assessing their responses.

McKinsey plans an AI client exercise for some applicants

The Verge, citing The Wall Street Journal, reports that McKinsey plans to test ten-minute conversations with simulated AI clients for some undergraduates seeking business-analyst roles. Humans in the room will assess candidates rather than having the AI score them. The simulation is intended to reflect common consulting situations, and the reported trial covers only some offices.
